A Note From Jezebel's Typist

Jezebel passed away in my arms this morning.  As some of you may know, I've had Jezebel since I was 6 years old - she has been a major part of my life.  I was the one who picked her out - I couldn't resist the crazy kitten that was literally climbing the cage to get me to notice her.

I slept on the floor in the living room so I could be near her - I didn't want to have her up in a bed in case she tried to go anywhere and fell.  I kept waking up every couple of hours to check on her.  She was so still and she felt cool, but she was still breathing. When I woke up for good around 7, I wrapped her up in my arms and held her for hours.

She seemed like she was beginning to struggle, so my mom and I decided we were going to take her to the vet.  But she passed away in my arms before we had the chance.  We buried her in the backyard, near where we buried Hank's ashes and Charlie last summer.

I feel like my heart is breaking.  Thank you for your friendship.

  1. I'm so sorry. Words cannot express how sorry I am for you. This is heartbreaking, I'm crying. (((HUGS)))). She'll live on in your heart forever and ever.

I read this beautiful quote when I'm really missing Tadpole. I hope it helps, some.

If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
No farewell words were spoken, no time to say goodbye. You were gone before I knew it, and only god knows why.
My heart still aches in sadness, and secret tears still flow. What it means to lose you no one will ever
    know.

But now I know you want me, to grieve for you no more; to remember all the happy times, life still has much in store.
Since you'll never be forgotten, I pledge to you today: a hollowed place within my heart is where you'll ALWAYS stay.

  2. .... and St Francis said, "Come little one, there is nothing more I can do for you here, don't be afraid" ......and St Francis gently picked up Jez and carried her into the kingdom of heaven

.....when the little cat looked around, she realized everything St Francis told her on her journey was true....heaven was beautiful beyond what mere words could express.....

...... and Jez saw there was no pain, suffering, fear, sickness, hunger, thirst or sorrow, until she looked down and saw the family and friends she had left behind.

......and for a very brief moment, the little cat too, was filled with sorrow.

Then St Francis bestowed Jez with a set of gossamer wings and said, "Use them to return to your family, when their need is the greatest, as nothing can separate your bond of love. Hold each other in your hearts and your memories, until you are reunited again at heaven's door."

and when the little cat tried on her wings, she knew nothing was impossible...... when there is....love

God's speed to you Jez with love from Boomer, Dai$y, Tuna.....
and Dude and Sauce too... you are, and always will be, a beautiful girl ♥♥♥

we are truly truly sorry :(........

  6. The hardest part of opening our hearts to our furbabies is that their lives will always be shorter than ours. We know there will be pain when they leave, but we are so grateful for their lives and how it enriches our own. You gave Jezebel, and Jezebel gave you a wonderful 21 years together. We are thinking of you at this difficult time. Hugs. We are all here if you need us.

  7. My heart breaks with you. So many of my kitties have died in my arms, and it is almost impossible to let go of them even after their little bodies have grown cold. You just think if you snuggle close enough and keep them warm, that they will return to you. With love and sympathy as you deal with the loss of your precious Jezebel. XO, Janet

  8. I cannot even begin to find the words to tell you how deeply sorry I am to learn about Jez. What a beautiful girl. I know how it is to lose a "soul kitty".....it is the most awful thing, but as Buddy above said you each gave each other so much. How blessed you were to have her for 21 years (my Bobo passed when he was 18).........sending you much love and if there is anything at all that we can do to help, we are here. Much love and our deepest sympathy, Caren and Cody

  11. Your heart is going to feel broken for some time, I think. That's a tribute to how very much you loved her.

But one day, in a bit when you are feeling better, you will understand that Jezebel was the very luckiest of kitties to have spent her life with you, who took such wonderful care of her though the ups and downs of 21 years, who saw that she was fed, and warm, and loved every day, right up to the very minute she slipped from this world into the next. Kitties don't get to be 21 years old by accident--it means their People were the best caretakers ever.

I hope that your sweet boy Travis is giving you some extra purrs and lovins tonight--we are sending you purrs and purrayers, too.

  15. Jez sure made sure that she was going to make her journey *her way*, and yes she sure did...
What sadness and empty hearts you have now we are sure. Heavy ones too.
We can't take that away, but know that sharing your burdens here with others is exactly what Jez would want you to do.

Sending tons of hugs and comforting purrs from Pipo & Minko, too.

  16. I am so genuinely sad for your loss.....Jezebel went on her own terms with all the love in the world surrounding her - as it should be. I know there's nothing I can say to make it better except I love thinking of her running over the Bridge in a field of flowers like a kitten again after a long and happy life with you.

  28. I am very very sorry to hear about your loss of Jezebel. I cannot imagine how you are feeling. So much history between you two. I wish there were some words of comfort I could offer you but alas there is none. None at all. The thing you have rock solid is knowing for 21 years you had a special loving bond with your beloved Jez and that will never leave you. It will remain with you all of your days. She will never leave you although right now it seems like the world is empty without her, she surrounds you with her spirit and it will always be there to comfort you. If you believe as I do then one day there will be a grand reunion and you once again will hear the purrs of your beloved Jez. Until that day remember that going forward now each morning you are going towards that reunion and I hope it will give you some comfort. You have the past to give you good memories and the future to know you will be reunited. Keeping you in my purrs and prayers.

    Poem For Cats

And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
    To decide anything for myself.
Are you coming then? asked God.
    Soon, replied the whiskered angel
    But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.
But don't they understand? Asked God
    That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is....forever and ever and ever.
    Eventually they will understand,
    Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.
