Code Red

Well, that's what the city are saying. I kinda think it should be called Code White for all da snow. We are in a Code Red situation and multiple power plants are shut down becuz of the cold. Lots of people around here are without power and it are currently 11 with a "feels like" temp of -2. The wind chill tonight is supposed to get to around -15 or -20.

There have been rolling blackouts, but some people are saying they are not "rolling" the power back on once it goes off. Luckily, we have had power the whole time - Bowie's momma thinks it is becuz we are very close to a fire station and they won't cut the power to fire stations.

We're hoping the power stays on.

It wuz so cold that the pool wuz icing over even though it wuz running.  Bowie's momma had to break up the ice.

The mommas are gonna hafta sleep in shifts tonite becuz if the power goes off, they hafta go drain the pool equipment immediately, otherwise it can freeze and pipes can burst. So we're all hopin our power stays on and this awful weather goes away.

  1. And be sure the pipes in your house are safe too. Luckily our house has a couple of drippy faucets anyway (we love to drink out of them.)

  2. OMC! I sure hope your power stays on. That weather is similar to ours, but we are able to handle it much better than your state. (We expect it here...)
    Sending warm thoughts.

  4. We heard (and saw) about your weather on the Mews last night - because it's not normal for Texas, is it?
We, too, are gearing up for a big snowstorm here throughout the whole country (after a lovely, abnormally warm and sunny week) - especially in hilly regions like Jerusalem (where We are) and the Galilee. Mummy hopes it won't block the roads as She has a much-needed appointment with the Hairdresser on Thursday!

  8. I am so sorry about all this horrible weather you are having and the sub zero temps and chill factor. I hope and pray your pipes did not burst and you have heat. I have a friend in Florida who awoke to 19 degrees this morning.

  10. Yeah, we got a lot of snow here last night and now it's cold. But that's not too unusual for us here in the north...not like you guys down south. I hope your pool survives! ~Ernie
