For Crockett

How do you say goodbye to a best friend? I don't know, but I do know I are tired of having to do it. Furst I had to say goodbye to Jezebel, I only knew her for a few months but I really luved her. She had a nice long life. Then I had to say goodbye to Maurice. That one hurt. He wuz a young mancat and wuz so sick. I also had to say goodbye to a woofie friend (yes, they really can be friends), Whitley. But this one hurts the most.

    

Crockett wasn't an old cat, he had just turned five. He wuzn't sick, he was so healthy. His momma thought she had at least another decade wif him. He wuz my best friend, we were always together. Playing, grooming each other, just napping together. We were pretty much inseparable. 

From the moment he came home five years ago, I luved him. He thought I wuz his momma at furst, he even checked out my belly for some milk. But even though I couldn't be his purrsonal milk bar, he followed me everywhere.

He wuz such a happy and funny lil kitten.

Just look at that face, how could ya not be in luv. 

There wuz somefin about his fur, maybe it wuz that ticked quality, he glowed in the sun.

He luved everyone - me, Angelique, the mommas, his daddy, even those silly dogs. 

He wuz his momma's shadow and followed her everywhere.

Ya couldn't look at him and not smile. 

His razzberries made him famous in da Cat Blogosphere - whether it wuz porno tongue or church tongue, Crockett had a razz for ya.

We will miss him so much.

We're wearing orange in his honor today. Momma even made me and Angelique new orange bandanas.

Da mommas (and grandpa too!) are all dressed in orange today. 

Rest in peace sweet Crockett, we'll miss you. We'll never forget you. We luv you furever and ever.

Missing Crockett

Well, we're all still trying to adjust here. It's hard, da mommas keep catching themselves looking for Crockett. And I didn't eat very well today, I did eventually eat half a can of cheesy Fancy Feast and a shrimp grandma made for me.

We all just miss our buddy. Life here is not the same without him.

Thank You

I know, I know, I has nefur pawticipated in the Thankful Thursday blog hop before. Mostly cuz me and momma both has an attitude, and it ain't exactly for gratitude. More like a gimme more attitude (for me - more head rubs, bacon, chikken livers, shrimp, ham, etc., for momma - more money, more clothes, more jewelry, more makeup, more nail polish, etc.). And ya might be thinking, why this week of all weeks we are deciding to join. Becuz it has been an awful week - just truly horrible.

But even in all of this awfulness and sadness, there are some things to be thankful for. One of them is our blogging friends. We're hosting a Wear Orange for Crockett blog hop on May 18, but there have already been numerous friends who posted a tribute to my BFF, including Pipo, Dalton, and Benji, the Cat Blogosphere, the Blogville POTP blog, Dash Kitten, Athena Cat Goddess, Timmy Tomcat, Matilda the Boxer, and Mudpie.

And we have gotten some sweet memorial badges - this one is from the Cat Blogosphere and was made by Ann at Zoolatry.

Pipo, Dalton, and Benji made us one too.

And our Catster and Facebook pals, Inky, Newman, Wilbur, and momma Laura made Crockett a razzing angel - she even used porno tongue! 

And today, our pals at Chewy sent us flowers for Crockett.

Which I are not allowed to eat apparently. Da mommas is no fun.

A nibble won't hurt will it?? See, they're very pretty.

We're doing as ok as we can. Da mommas are still crying too much. Angelique are still trying to be a therapy cat. I'm eating a little better, but I've also thrown up a couple times. Maybe eating some of da flower arrangement wuzn't a good idea. I'm not hiding today, so there's a some progress.

May 18 - Wear Orange for Crockett

Hi furiends.

Thank you very much for all of your kind words about our Crockett.

We miss him so much. Angelique has been such a sweetheart (I know, I kinda can't believe I am writing this, MOL), she has been trying to make sure all of da humans are ok. They aren't. Crockett's momma blames herself (she knows she shouldn't and everyone has been telling her she shouldn't). Crockett's daddy is so sad. And Angelique's momma and my momma are heartbroken. So Angelique has a lot of work to do.  

I have been acting very traumatized - da mommas think I saw Crockett die. We were always together and loved to get into mischief together, so I may have been trying to climb the ladder with him. We did like to climb together. But I has been trembling some and have been not eating well (and you know me, I like to eat a LOT). But grandma suggested some bacon tucked into my food and that has helped me eat a lil.   

I just miss my best friend. We all do.

This Saturday, May 18, woulda been Crockett's 5th Gotcha Day. But our sweet lil guy never got to see it. So we're asking all our pals to wear Crockett's signature color - ORANGE on May 18.
