Happy Memorial Day y'all! And before anyone jumps on me (or momma, MOL) for saying "happy" in front of Memorial Day - her view is dat she would want people to remember her wif happiness and not sadness, so yes, even though Memorial Day are serious stuff, and we are grateful for those who have sacrificed, you can be happy as well. Or at least try, MOL. I'd be happier if I got some of those burgers and hot dogs ya hear so much about, but no such luck here. Ok, now on to da mewsic . . . da theme this week are . . . Memorial Day. So here's my take on a Memorial Day playlist.
As always, Kinley will have more songs for ya. Now, off to find some of the Memorial Day treats . . .
Good picks!

DeleteYears ago, petcretary worked in a nursing home for Veterans...it was always great to hear all their stories. They were British, Canadian, and a few other nationalities...but they all felt was was never a good thing, but nonetheless, yes they did serve...they loved to hear the music that reminded them of some of the more fun times they shared.
ReplyDeleteI bet she got to hear a lot of interesting stories.
DeleteI think "Happy" in front of Memorial Day is meant as saying I'm happy for the protection of the brave who served our country. I don't think it's meant disrespectfully. That being said, I do get where your mom is coming from. I try to not use it and focus on it as a day of remembrance, as it should be. The ultimate price paid to preserve freedom. Excellent song picks. Have a boogietastic week!
ReplyDeleteExactly - we were just trying to say we weren't being disrespectful wif it. Just that we are happy for our freedoms and we remember people with happiness.
DeleteLove your pussy cat. I also love the music you chose although I couldn't play the one after Springsteen...bummer
ReplyDeleteIt wuz Edwin Starr's War.
DeleteThose were good tunes Travis! I hope your Memorial Day was most pleasant.
ReplyDeleteIt wuz!
DeleteZombie is one of the most meaningful songs of recent years; we can only hope the Troubles never return. War really is good for absolutely nothing. Again, liked your take on the theme.
