Naughty or Nice?

First up, a big thanks for all the purrs, POTP, prayers, good thoughts, etc. for our grandpa/dad.

He had his shoulder surgery on Wednesday - a steel plate and screws. He has to keep it immobilized in a sling for 4-6 weeks, then do rehab.

In other news, da mommas has been busy doing Christmassy things.

The tree are almost finished (it takes multiple days - espeshully since some certain 2 year old cat has to keep knocking off ornaments!), da inside and outside decorayshuns are done, cookies are being made, our cards went out, and momma almost has our Secret Paws present ready to go!

And of course we're waiting for Santa Paws to come. Pretty shure I are on da nice list . . .

Bowie better hope dat cuteness cancels out ornament knocking, MOL.

Watch Where You're Driving!

Well, pals, we hasn't posted in a couple days cuz we had some bad news here.

See, on Saturday, my grandpa (AKA Bowie's daddy or my momma's daddy) wuz out walking in our nayborhood and he got hit by a car.

And not just bumped or something - he wuz hit so hard we wuz thrown in da air and landed hard in da street.

He had to go to da murgency room.

YIKES! We have been to da kitty vershun of that and it are no fun!

His humerus bone are broken up in his shoulder. And no, it are not humorous at all.

He has to go to da orthopedist tomorrow to find out if he are gonna need surgery. Good thing he has three kitty nurses.

And he are in a lotta pain. So just as a reminder, everybody better watch where you're driving!

Sick Sunday Selfies

Well, ya know the saying when it rains it pours? It has been monsooning here at our house. Bowie wuz getting really sick last night, he felt warm, he wouldn't eat, and he just looked miserable. So da mommas decided he needed to go to the emergency vet. But furst, they had to take the dogs out. When my momma wuz helping Finley (her leg wuz in a sling following her procedure to put her hip back into place after she dislocated it), she noticed Finley stank. And not just dirty dog stink - her foot smelled putrid and it was oozing. So she went with Bowie to the emergency vet. They both had to stay overnight. Bowie's temperature spiked up to 105 when he was there and they determined he has an upper respiratory infection. So he got lotsa antibiotics and he's home now. But he's still feeling bad - he's eating a lil and he's lethargic still.

Late last night, I developed the sneezies too. And I was doing the same panting Bowie wuz doing. Angelique has also been sneezing (she wuz actually the furst to get sneezy, but she didn't get as sick as Bowie). So da mommas got antibiotics for all three of us. I've been feeling bad today - I tried hiding, but momma keeps finding me. And just now, I only took a bite of my dinner. Not like me at all, normally I can't get enough.

Angelique is the only one of us who is eating good, but she's still sneezing too. So it seems like the three of us are ALL sick and our old pup is still at the emergency vet with a nasty bacterial infection. They had to remove the sling - what that means for her hip, we'll find out on Monday. But she could wind up with a gimpy leg if the hip pops back out of joint. And she wuz doing so good and really trying. It's all just really discouraging and depressing. Not meaning to be a downer, especially now when the whole world is such a dark and depressing place. But it's what is goin on here. So just be sure not to judge your friends and neighbors you see out and about - they could be doing something important, like taking animals to the emergency vet (or shopping for an elderly couple, or working at a food bank, or something GOOD). Not everyone who's out is just being a quarantine rebel.

Finley Update

Thanks for all the POTP and purrs and prayers for our pup sisfur Finley. She made it through her hip procedure - the doctor said it easily went back into it's joint and now she's home and sleeping.

Which are good - we need her to keep those crazy young dogs in line! Otherwise, us cats woulda hafta do ALL the work.

Da mommas are gonna be busy taking care of her for a few weeks - but since everything is shut down, it's not like they're gonna have much else to do!

She's been monopolizing my momma's lap for da last three hours. But it's ok, we're all just glad she's home and hopefully on the road to recovery.

Finley Needs POTP!

Hey pals. Ya know those three crazy dogs I live wif?

Well, Finley, the oldest pup, needs some POTP. Somehow she dislocated her hip.

We don't really know how it happened. We'd seen her walking around fine (well, as good as an almost 14 year old arthritic dog walks), and she had gone to sleep in a crate. When her momma got her out to take her out, she couldn't walk or put weight on her left rear leg. And it was dangling funny. She wuz clearly in pain, so she went to da vet today. Dey did some x-rays, and she has a dislocated hip. She got some pain meds and anti-inflammatories and is resting now.

She's going to the orthopedic vet tomorrow morning to get it popped back into place. She's not a candidate for surgery. She's almost 14 and has got her skin allergies, a heart condition, arthritis, dementia . . . maybe she could be a presidential candidate but not a surgical one. So we are really hopin this works.

Good thoughts, POTP, prayers, purrs, voodoo incantations, human sacrifices are all appresheated.

We know terriers have kind of a bad reputayshun for being cat-friendly, but Finley has always luved da kitties. And she has always respected us too! She's a sweet old pup and we all love her a lot.
