Hi pals. We has some sad news about a Facebook/Dogster/Catster friend, Cindy Green (if ya wuz on Catster or Dogster, ya might remember her pups Luna and angels Milo and Hobo). Cindy was found deceased this weekend, her last Facebook post wuz on the 11th (and she posted pretty much everyday). Luna passed away too - she ran out of food and water. They think Cindy died on the 11th or 12th. Momma wuz thinking about her tonight since she always posted about politics and the debate was on.
Cindy loved animals and she really loved her pup Luna, I know she would have hated what happened to her.
She wuz a retired pediatrics nurse and a long-time Democratic party activist, she wuz a huge supporter of women's rights and gay rights. She worked for San Diego Democrats for Equality. It's so sad, she will be missed by so many people.
Please, if you know someone who lives alone and is older - check on them and their animals, especially if they stop posting on social media.
And if you're older and alone, please arrange to have someone check on you and your animals if they don't hear from you.
That is just way too horrible. For both.
ReplyDeleteIts good to check on your neighbors and friends, even if they seem young and healthy, you just never know.
While we did know Cindy and her pups, we didn't know them very well.
Sorry that you lost such a good friend, it hurts so much.
That is really sad. My human worries something like this might happen to her - something could happen to anybody who lives alone, and people might not notice for a long time. She would not want Boodie and I to be stuck without food and water.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry about your friend and her dog. That is so tragic that she died alone and no-one knew, and her poor dog also died. Terrible!
ReplyDeleteWe are so sorry to hear about this.
ReplyDeleteYou are right Travis, it is important that people have someone who can check in when they do not hear from them.Even if it is just a phone call on a regular basis.
Purrs,Georgia,Julie and JJ
That is so very, very sad.
ReplyDeleteSo very sad. It is true that those of us who live alone need to have someone who checks up on you no matter what your age is.
ReplyDeleteThe Florida Furkids
Oh dear me I am so very sorry to read about the passing of your friend Cindy and her companion Luna. Yes indeedy if something changes in a routine we need to check.
ReplyDeleteHugs Cecilia
We did not know them, but feel very sad. This happens more than we realize, mamma knows cuz of the work she used to do. If you are older, sometimes your insurance will pay for one of those buttons that can summon help. Please 3ncourage people to at least try the,.

I am so so very sorry to learn this. It is a tragedy. You are right Social media, when you are on every day and then aren't...something is probably wrong. I made a CB friend very angry a year or so ago when I called to check on her after days without her posting...and on someone's else's advice, I called for a welfare check from their local sheriff's dept. Turned out she had changed her phone no. and didn't tell me, so in an effort to keep my word and help...I guess I embarrassed her. She hasn't spoken since. I said all this because your advice is spot on. AND it is your responsibility as the person along to keep your contact info shared with those who need it. Great advice to all you gave and I am sad to read that tragic news.
ReplyDeleteWe didn’t know Cindy but this is so very very sad.
ReplyDeletewe are so sorry, Travis. this is very sad.

That is so sad. XO
ReplyDeleteWe are so sorry to read this - and Katie Isabella, we are sorry that your friend got mad when you checked on her. Our huMom has a couple of Facebook friends that she checks on, one once a week and the other if she is not on FB for awhile . Also, our HuMom has somebody who checks on her, as she lives alone with us furkids. And Summer's Mama is right- anyone who lives alone needs someone to check in on them.
ReplyDeleteLuna never left her Mama's side. There's not more that a loyal friend could do.
@Meezer's Mews & Terrieristical Woofs - It's really sad, it shouldn't have happened. She wuz such a good person.
ReplyDelete@Summer - It is scary - she should see if she can get someone to trust to check on her if she ever "disappeared" from social media.
@Memories of Eric and Flynn - It's so sad.
@Mickey's Musings - Even just a text.
@Brian - It really is. Cindy and Luna deserved better.
@The Florida Furkids - It's true - things can happen to anyone.
@My Mind's Eye - It's really sad.
@neora chana - It's really sad - we've heard about it before, but never to someone we knew (even if just online). You think it only happens to recluses, but Cindy was very active in her community. It just sucks.
@da tabbies o trout towne - ♥♥♥
@Katie Isabella - That's too bad that somebody got upset. You calling for a welfare check just means that you care.
@The Island Cats - It is - she was a very good person - caring and funny.
@Cara n Crew - It really is.
@pilch92 - It is really sad.
@catladymac - That's so smart of your momma (and good of her to do it for others).
We didn't know them but felt absolutely devastated hearing the situation...how awful to die like that and her pup to pass from hunger after losing his Mom. People who live alone need a "guardian angel" - someone who will check on them from time to time - just touching base.......it's heartbreaking to hear things like this.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Pam
We're so sorry to hear this, it's so awful for both of them. It's heartbreaking. Purrs
ReplyDeleteI didn't know her but this is beyond tragic.
ReplyDelete@Pam and Teddy - It's really heartbreaking. And she wasn't a recluse either, she was very involved in her community. It's so hard to believe this happened to her.
ReplyDelete@The Swiss Cats - It is really sad.
@Melissa, Mudpie and Angel Truffles (Mochas, Mysteries and Meows) - It really is. She was a really good person - she really cared about the world and worked hard to try to make it a better place. It's so sad.
Oh my, that is so very tragic. It is crucial that everyone has someone regularly checking up on them, this just brings that point home to all of us. Thanks for the update.
ReplyDelete@Catscue Cat Mom - It's so important - even if you don't think anything will go wrong, you never know.
