Hey pals! Today it are da second day of día de los muertos, the Mexican holiday that celebrates the dead.
We're celebrating by wearing our día de los muertos bandanas.
Día de los muertos wuz also da momma's theme this Meowloween - some of y'all said ya wanted to see pictures, so here ya go. And ya know my momma - there are a LOT of pickshures.
My momma.
She made the bandana and skirt herself (she already had the top). Bowie's momma helped wif her makeup.
They had tejano and mariachi music going outside.
Da mommas also made da flower garland.
Here's the front yard.
Angelique's momma.
A double dead selfie.
Bowie's momma.
Bowie's momma made her headdress and skirt too - along wif making em for Angelique!
My momma and my grandma.
Bowie's momma mostly did her own makeup, but my momma helped some.
Another pic of the front yard.
The skulls are paper mâché - made and painted by da mommas.
My momma painted this pumpkin.
A pumpkin carved by Bowie's momma.
My momma's carved pumpkin.
Bowie's momma's painted pumpkin.
Bowie's momma painted dis skull.
My momma did this one.
It looks like a fiesta for shures!
As ya an probably figger out, my momma wuz pretty happy wif da decorayshuns.
She found these toys at Party City.
And she painted this sign.
They had a good Halloween - passing out candy, then going out to eat and to the movies.
My momma even scared a trick or treater who thought she wuz a decorayshun until she moved!
Ok, now for my health update. It's confusing.
My blood results came back and my liver enzymes are high - my ALT is 341. Looking at my past results, before I wuz sick, my normal seemed to be around 50. Now, I have been on prednisolone, which can increase ALT numbers, but probably not that much. We found this out on Halloween and the vet wanted me to come in for fluids (even though he did NOT give my momma a diagnosis). My momma couldn't bring me in and I wuz eating, drinking, and being very active. And she wuzannoyed with da vet - no real results so far and he wuz rude and said he knew there were "budgetary concerns" when I went in on Tuesday. Well, yeah, EVERYONE has a budget. And she has spent thousands of dollars on this and can't afford to spend thousands every week for fluids when I am doing well at home. Well, Friday morning, he calls Bowie's momma and leaves a snotty message asking what we are going to do about my hepatitis. Like we are uncaring people. My momma has been worried about me for OVER a month now, I've been going to the vet and he can't seem to figure out how to fix me. It feels like he is just throwing s%#t at the wall to see what sticks - and charging us through da nose for it. So she's going to wean me off of the steroids this weekend - if I keep eating and doing well, good. If I don't, we're going to another vet for a second opinion. My momma has also ordered me some liquid hepato (milk thistle) - we've given it to animals (Maurice and Finley) with liver issues before with good results.
So that's the news for me. Angelique and Bowie are both doing good - even if they didn't get chikken livers like me. Being sick has its advantages I guess.
Oh, and my momma has some día de los muertos Caturday art to contribute - a gato de muertos!
Happy Caturday!
The mommas look fabulous. We sure hope they can figure out what's going on with you without having to put you on lots of bad medications.

OMFP (Oh My Floofy Paws)! Look at all those brightly colored festive decorations! Mom and I luv everything! The ladies look so-o pretty in their costumes and makeup. And of course, you must've been a treat for those mini humans when they saw you in your bandanas.
ReplyDeleteI think you're momma's right by wanting to get a second opinion. My mom says that's what she would want to do, too. I'm glad you have some activity back. That's a real good sign. Luvs you.
You have lots of decorations at your house. I hope your Mom is able to get a more accurate diagnosis and find a treatment plan that gets you 100% soon (without breaking the bank).
ReplyDeleteYour humans really know how to celebrate Dia de los Muertos!
ReplyDeleteI definitely think your human should get a second opinion.
You all look amazing! Love the decorations :)
ReplyDeleteWe are sorry the vet has been rude to you and your momma.
Please do get a second opinion.
Sending you healing purrs and vibes xx
Da Moms look terrific and y'all look wonderful in your bandanas! I sure hope you are all better soon Travis. We'd not only get a 2nd opinion, we'd get a new Vet.
ReplyDeleteWow! Your peeps did an awesome job with those costumes! Sorry to hear about your health problems, and hope things improve.
ReplyDeleteWow! Those costumes and makeup are all amazing, the decorations too.
ReplyDeleteI agree that you need a second opinion. No matter what your vet's personal opinion is, he shouldn't be rude to paying clients. It sounds like he is scrabbling in the dark to find a diagnosis too.
WOW! Your momma is mighted talented and so is Bowie's momma.
ReplyDeleteThe outfits look amazing and the decorations are fabulous!
We purr you find a Vet that is kind and has a clue and not mean like this one(seems to be in it for the $)
Purrs,Georgia and Julie
The decorations and makeup are awesome - you have a very talented family.
ReplyDeleteYour health... I'm so sorry all this additional drama is happening. It sounds like you need a new vet, if possible. He's a massive jerk face. I'd say after spending thousands, your mom has earned the right to be treated like a caring pet parent.
My views on vets are complicated. It's too expensive, and when it comes to mystery problems, the ones I've dealt with are just not that helpful. They want to focus on fast routine care. And specialists... Just take a second mortgage and be done with it.
Clapping wildly and with admiration on your ladies' makeup and decorations.
ReplyDeleteWTG somebuddy is very artsy!!
Travis darlin' I'm sending you tons of healing virtual hugs and lots of understanding to your momma I know she is very confused.
Hugs cecilia
You all look great! I love how your mommas all get dressed up too. I am sorry that vet is so money hungry. I pay $10.50 for a bag of fluids and give them to Prancie twice a day, it lasts a week- could you do his at home?
ReplyDeleteI am praying you feel better. XO
Wow ! All your huMoms are so artistic ! Not everybody can make their own skulls !
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to read about your problems with the vet, Travis ! Is this the first time anyone has said "hepatitis" when talking about what's wrong ? Oscar, my oldest mancat - but only about 10 - has to have fluids for his kidney problems, and I quickly found I couldn't afford to have the vet do it either - but your Mama can give you fluids at home. It isn't like a human getting fluids, where you have to hit a blood vessel . Getting a second opinion is a very wise thing for your Mama to do !
We will continue sending purrayers and POTP.
@The Florida Furkids - Me too.
ReplyDelete@Valentine - Fanks!
@The Indulged Furries - Me too.
@Summer - That's what we're planning on.
@Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty - Fanks, we're planning on it.
@Brian - Well, dat are pretty much da plan. Our family has used another vet before (we mainly went to this one because of Finley's allergies, but we're not happy with the attitude and the lack of a real diagnosis)
@C.L.W.STEP - Fanks!
@Memories of Eric and Flynn - Yeah, momma just wishes he would admit that he duzn't know either instead of trying to get more money out of her when all the labs aren't even back yet.
@Mickey's Musings - His attitude seems to have gotten bad lately. We've had some issues before, but this is just too much for momma.
@The Whiskeratti - It's tuff. And we understand it's gotta be frustrating for a vet to not know what's wrong either. But my momma duzn't want to be charged thousands for guesses.
@My Mind's Eye - Fanks!
@pilch92 - Da mommas has done sub-q's at home before (for Charlie and Maurice), so if I need them, that can definitely be done.
@catladymac - Yeah, it kinda came outta nowhere. Da mommas has done sub-q's before at home, so if I need em, we know how.

Wow-wee! You sure did go 'all out' on your decorations! OMC!!
ReplyDeleteThat stinks that your vet is being rude, while you, Travis are still not diagnosed properly. Sounds like your plan to find another vet is not out of line.Petcretary had to do that for Minko way back...
Could your liver enzymes being elevated be related to pancreatitis or what is known as triaditis, (IBD, pancreatitis and another one, I cannot remember)?
Milk thistle is a good liver detoxifier. Can a kitty have dandelion? That is good for liver troubles too.
Hang in there Travis...someday soon I hope, you will get better and be yourself again. Bowie and Angelique, I hope you are being nice to your brofur:)
POTP!
Your Day of the Dead decorations are SPECTACULAR! Your mommas sure go all out!
ReplyDeleteTravis, we're sorry your still having issues. We agree, a second opinion from another vet is in order. Maybe see a specialist like an internal medicine vet? It may be a little more expensive, but we find that with some tricky health issues, they are more equipped with finding answers than regular vets. Milk Thistle will help your liver enzymes, or even a supplement called Denamarin will help. If you need fluids, maybe your momma could do them herself. It's much cheaper that way. Our mom gives us fluids when we need them. But if you're eating and acting okay, we don't think you have hepatitis. We hope you can get some answers.
Travis we are sending you lots of purrs and prayers. Sometimes things happen with cats and then get better so we really agree with Moms decision to try something new. We are so thankful for our vet who understands that people are not made of gold and sometimes less is more. Our Buddy was diagnoses with high ALT and pancreatitis 4 years ago. His labs came back down on their own after he started eating right again.
ReplyDeleteWe really loved all your artwork and makeup. We usually do something for the Day of the Dead but are really glad to visit you to share the fun. Thanks
Everyone looks incredible. All the mommas’ did a great job on their make-up and their other artwork is amazing. You all really go all out on holidays. It must be fun. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer
ReplyDeleteWowza! Y'all are amazing, the house is amazing … amazing! I love it! Purrs and prayers and POTP for our sweet Travis.
ReplyDelete@Sherri-Ellen T-D. - Momma says she's through with this guy - she's not paying thousands to be treated like that.
ReplyDelete@Meezer's Mews & Terrieristical Woofs - Da vet said my pancreas wuzn't effected.
@The Island Cats - If I needed fluids, momma could do them (she's done it before for Angel Charlie).
@Timmy Tomcat - Momma's thinking she made the right decision now that I've been good for days.
@Kitties Blue - It really are!
@Catscue Catmom - Fanks!
