Dona Nobis Pacem: Blog For Peace

Hey y'all. Furst I've got a quick health update - some more test results came in. Da bacteria I had are gone (GOOD!), but da vet suspects IBD and hepatitis (not good). I'm now off the prednisolone, and still eating good with no nasty symptoms (GOOD!) So, we're just taking a wait and see approach for now, since if I have IBD, it's chronic and not curable - there's no need to rush me to a vet if I'm doing ok at home since it's stressful for me. We'll keep ya updated on my health. And fanks so much for caring - this lil buff tabby boy are so happy he are loved.

Ok, for da main point of today's post. We's joining annual blog blast for peace. A piece of what ya ask? Well, a piece of our minds on dis year's theme, which are "change your climate." It could mean a lotta things, your purrsonal climate, the environment, the air conditioner (just kidding on that one). We's choosing to talk about the climate. Ok, ya now us kitties like it hot (there's nuffin like a sunpuddle), but climate change are not a good thing (even if momma would LUV endless summer). I mean, what if the ocean's flooded the nip-growing farms?? What if it led to bacon shortages?? Y'all may have seen the fires in southern California this month - well, 2 of those fires happened VERY close to where momma used to live (she went to UCLA which had to cancel classes becuz of the Getty Fire and she lived right next to a mandatory evacuation zone for the Easy Fire in Simi Valley when she wuz 10). And we've all seen the news about the massive flooding hurricanes have caused - so much of this seems to be getting worse.

So what can we do? Well, we're cats. We aren't the problem. People are the problem. So make your humans recycle - I always make momma rinse out the Fancy Feast cans and recycle them. Tell them to watch their fossil fuel consumption - hey momma, that means LESS driving me back and forth to da vet. And most importantly, they can change their climate by VOTING. In the US, there's gonna be a big eleckshun in almost one year exactly. So make shure your humans know the positions the candidates have on environmental issues and VOTE accordingly. Your nip and bacon supply might depend on it.

Ok, we's not ALL serious here. Since it are also Mewsic Monday, we's sharing some peace-related/anti-war tunes for ya. Kinley Westie will have some more.

  1. I'm glad you're feeling a little better and the bacterias are all gone. I have bowel disease (probably inflammatory bowel) and I eat a predictable diet (just a few canned foods, mostly rabbit) and take medicine every day to help keep things under control. I hope you're able to figure out how to keep your guts working properly. I get "gurgly guts" when things aren't going so well.

"Imagine" is one of my favorite songs. We try to be kind to the planet and consume as little as possible. And we definitely throw all my cat food cans into the recycle bin.

We have to be good stewards of the earth and all its creatures don't we?

Well, daaang... I's got dat IBD thing and it are not fun - jus gotta watch what goes in so less comes out. So to speak. you take care now Travis - you may even have to rethink the bacon intake. Jus sayin...

You are so right about all that climate stuff - and getting polly tishuns to fess up about their policies on that are real difficult!!! Don't be shy in probing them though - cuz if they ain't serious about it, you can just ignore em!!! Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx

  6. I am glad you are feeling a lot better, Travis, and the bad bacteria has gone.
That is a good message, but ordinary people mostly try to do what they can. It is those who are higher who won't do what is needed.
I recycle everything I can, then see the crusher truck collect the recycling, put it all in and crush it to take it to landfill.

  8. Mews LSCs!

So glad to read the babby boy is doin' better these days. I certainly understand about stomach problems since I have issues with mine. Thankfully since the horrible occurrence in 2013 I'm doing lots better but having a chronic condition that can flare anytime and my risk for cancer is higher than most my GI orders an annual colonoscopy to make sure I'm in good health.

Taking care of the earth is man's responsibility but some efforts cause equal if not more worries for our planet. Those wildfires on the west coast are always scary. I can't imagine living close to such a frightening scenario. In 2016 the Smoky's had a wildfire and we live miles from it but still, I was scared. I think more so for those directly involved. My heart was so heavy for those poor people. We could smell the smoke and we're about 45 minutes from Gatlinburg, TN. I read on someone's blog yesterday that the fires have been contained. Let's pray that they are extinguished completely soon.

Thanks for sharing the dance floor with the 4M gang, my furriends. Have a boogietastic week!

  18. I have IBS, which is no fun, so I can somewhat identify. When I was young I was idealistic and tried to maintain a recycling lifestyle but I'm less so now. There is so much more I can do, I know! And thank you for featuring one of my favorite Green Day songs!
