Well, a polar vortex has hit which means it are super cold outside. 

It also means da mommas are stuck inside more, which we like.

It's also getting close to Valentine's Day. Well, for some humans. My momma is just gonna have me as her Valentine this year, thanks a lot COVID. MOL. 

But since it are da season of LOVE, we is gonna go wif some LOVE songs for Valentine's Day.

Super Sunday Selfies

 

Well, it's Super Bowl Sunday. We started off the day with the Kitten Bowl. Which wuz cute and all, but it may have given da mommas a dose of Kitten Fever.

Too bad there isn't a vaccine for that, MOL! Anyways, we're just chillin and waiting for da snacks dat should be coming out any minute.

We heard somefin bout chikken.

Hey pals!

It's the weekend and us kitties are ready to party!

Hint hint - bacon makes an excellent Kitten Bowl (or Super Bowl if you MUST) snack. 

Momma got my numbers back from da vet this week - and it are good news! My bloodwork wuz good - my BUN wuz barely elevated but my creatine wuz good. Da vet thinks da BUN wuz because I am on a high-protein low-carb diet. But da numbers my momma wuz more worried about wuz da urinalysis - and dat news wuz pawsome! NO crystals and da vet said my peeH wuz pawsome! So it wuz good news and I get to keep eating Tiki Cat.

We're happy we are doing the right thing - it can be confusing to figure out when you have a crystal-prone kitty.

We relied a lot on the info on Cat Info (in consultation with our vet) and have basically stuck with Tiki Cat wet food and avoided the sardine varieties since they are too high in phosphorus. Which means I even get to enjoy some fishy foods (although momma duz try to make sure I don't eat fish exclusively any day). The normal problem with fish and crystal-prone kitties is the high phosphorus levels in fish foods from ground up fish bones. But for most fish varieties (tuna, salmon, etc.) Tiki Cat does not grind up fish bones. The only varieties that seem to be a problem are the sardine ones, so we don't buy those.

Of course, we always recommend you follow your vet's advice for your kitty, we're just sharing what worked for us. We like that Tiki Cat is more nutritionally appropriate for cats than a lot of the urinary health foods.

Plus it are delishus! And momma likes the packaging (not that it really matters, but it are a cute bonus and the retro cool kitty is right up da momma's alley).

Vaccines Galore?

 

So vaccines are kinda in da news now. Lots humans want a COVID vaccine and a few of da crazy ones think dat they're really planting tracking chips or somefin like dat.

When it comes to us kitties, my momma kinda falls in da middle. She are not an "anti-vaxxer," but she also duzn't like overvaccination. Which brings us to today . . .

I had to go into da vet for my annual exam today. If ya remember, we had to change vets (in da middle of COVID) due to some longstanding issues wif my previous vet. I needed bloodwork and a urinalysis (after all my problems last fall, we need to make sure my PeeH (see what I did there, hee hee) are good. I wuz also do a FRCVP booster. And I'm gonna hafta have my first ever tooth cleaning later this month. Da one thing I didn't need wuz my rabies, since I got a 3-year rabies shot back in July. But da mommas are still not allowed as da vet is strictly curbside service. And I guess somebody didn't read the chart right, becuz I also got a 1-year rabies vaccination today. So I guess I really won't be rabid. Momma is not happy, but I don't seem to be having any bad side effects, so she's not worried since she understands it must happen (shelters, people getting a cat without knowing their vaccination history, etc). But since I had to get a totally unnecessary shot, I think I deserve some extra bacon or tuna or SOMETHING! Well, at least da vet said I had very nice fur.

Happy Monday! It's been a while since we did a Mewsic Monday, so we thought we'd do something today.
